You could be rolling more dice
Yeah, don't think I haven't stumbled upon all the wisdom regarding when to roll dice around the internet and I'm not saying it's all wrong, but... rolling the little polyhedron and being surprised by what's facing up might be one of my favorite things in the hobby...?
I was raised in a lot of traditional boardgame slop where you roll a die and move that many spaces with your pawn, and then someone gave me a game where I can roll a die to summon a house made of flesh, custom made for me1. I can roll a die to determine if my knight will encounter a draconic orgy gone wrong or a pile of dirt with questionable opinions on the current media landscape.
Games spend so much time designing cool and inspired dice resolution procedures and then keep hitting me with the whole "only roll if there are stakes or something is at risk". You can't make me! I chose, out of all the games ever invented, to play the one where you get to roll dice to decide what bullshit is going to happen next and I will do it when I feel like it!
This realization brought to you by this amazing piece by w.s. healed and some messages by Brandon about oracular dice rolls and going beyond what the game tells you they should mean.
